Bangkit’s Learning Environment Motivated Me to Achieve More

A Story of I Komang Pranadita Kusuma Jaya, Bangkit 2022 Graduate from Information System, Universitas Brawijaya

Many things can drive us to push our learning limits, but for I Komang Pranadita Kusuma Jaya (23), Bangkit's learning environment provides unmatched encouragement for him to thrive. Far before achieving many after Bangkit, Prana—that’s what he’s called—was just a young man who frequently observed his father use AutoCAD at work.

Since that moment, Prana’s curiosity has grown stronger, leading him to study Information Systems at university, join Bangkit, and land a job in a multinational tech company from the United States. How has Prana transformed himself into someone keen to achieve more? Let’s read his story!

Prepared for a Promising Career Since College

Prana was born and raised in Denpasar as the youngest of three. Born to a father who worked as a contractor, he spent time seeing his father tinkering with AutoCAD most of the time. Little Prana thought that it would be cool if someday he worked with computers just like his father. As time passed, his fascination with the device grew more robust, leading him to go to Universitas Brawijaya and study Information Systems.
“I chose Information Systems because this discipline intersects technology and business management. Considering that someday I plan to land a job in a corporation, I think I made the right decision,” Prana said.
Although Prana spent his weekdays on campus to learn more about technology, he felt this discipline encompasses a wide range of fields. Therefore, he knew he could explore many beyond tech materials on campus.

Prana realized he had a long way to go before starting his professional career. Hence, he made the most of his college years by gaining more knowledge and exposing himself to new insights.
“I knew that tech has many domains. So, to make sure that I can smoothly land my career, find my most suitable domains in tech, and combine them, I participated in many online courses, and Dicoding was one of them.”

Bangkit’s Learning Environment Radiated Positive Energy

Of all the tech paths Prana could explore, he was interested in Mobile Development (Android). He found getting involved in end-user product development intriguing. Becoming a Machine Learning or Cloud Computing expert prompted him to work “behind the scenes.” Prana wanted his work to be in touch with the targeted audience.

Prana’s fascination with Mobile Development (Android) grew firmer, so he found Bangkit on Kampus Merdeka’s website. He saw the industries involved in this program are reputable companies, such as Google, GoTo, and Traveloka. Knowing that Bangkit offered a well-structured curriculum, a positive learning environment, and instructors from experts in industries and universities, Prana enrolled in Bangkit 2022.
“As a Mobile Development (Android) cohort in Bangkit, I learned a lot about developing user-centric products. That’s why UX research is necessary for product development.”
However, Prana found working on his capstone project challenging. He had to collaborate with participants from different places and barely knew them. Prana conceded that it was difficult to align with other people’s domain. Nevertheless, developing a capstone project gave Prana some insights and new experiences.
“My best experience in Bangkit was meeting people keen to achieve more, as does the learning environment. Those activities radiated positive energy for me.”

When Prana’s Journey Began at IBM Jasa Teknologi Informasi (JTI)

Having more than 900 hours of learning experience in Bangkit boosted Prana’s confidence in applying for jobs once he graduated. He said the credentials issued whenever he reached certain milestones in Bangkit helped him immensely.
“Receiving credentials from Bangkit after I reached each milestone helped me land my job. It proved that I already obtained certain necessary skill sets from Bangkit as a trusted and reputable career readiness program.”
Armed with Bangkit’s completion certificate, Prana’s professional journey began as a System Analyst Intern in 2022. Then, in October 2023, Prana officially became part of IBM JTI as an Application Developer.

Learning about UX research, development, and testing in Bangkit and obtaining experience as a System Analyst shaped Prana’s readiness as his career began at IBM JTI. He was challenged to solve some problems and create innovation.

Prana successfully captivated his employer when he built an educational app that can help high school students map their future careers based on Ikigai, a Japanese concept that refers to a person’s reason for being, their life purpose, or the thing that gives them meaning and fulfillment. As a result, Prana got into the top three among newly employed people and occupied the first position.

“Keep manifesting, and let the universe speak.”

Prana’s work achievements resulted in an offer to be an Application Developer directly for IBM Indonesia. He became part of the IBM Consulting—Hybrid Cloud Transformation Division, responsible for handling cloud-related software. Moreover, Prana is also in charge of a project involving a state-owned enterprise as IBM’s client. He is appointed as a Project Manager Assistant.
“As a Project Manager assistant, it was beneficial for me to gain insights about design thinking when I was in Bangkit. It helps me with problem-solving and building a user-centric product. On top of that, the design thinking I learned in Bangkit also applies to many life domains, particularly in mapping our future.”
Now, as his journey as an Application Developer at IBM began, Prana believes that many Bangkit graduates can follow in his footsteps. He wants to encourage them to keep manifesting and let the universe speak.
